Building your own home can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding projects you may ever undertake in your life; it may also be one of the most challenging.
There is nothing new or unusual about building your own home. It may be new and unusual to you, but plenty of ordinary (and extraordinary) folk have done it before and will do it in the future. Yes, it can be hard going at times and you need energy and enthusiasm, but it will be worth it in the end. No question.
Throughout your project you should seek advice, guidance and encouragement where and whenever you need it. There are many potential sources for this such as websites; self-build magazines & books; friends, family & colleagues; suppliers and tradesmen; etc. Hopefully we too can be a useful source of advice and guidance. To get you started we have started to put together this self-build guide, and we will add to and refine this as we develop the website.
